Live Music by Chris Murphy Chris Murphy

Chris Murphy has been a professional musician in the Kingston area for over 20 years, and has toured across Canada, as well as performances in the US, Ireland, and China. Chris got his start in the Celtic/East Coast band Shores of Newfoundland, and later founded the band Crooked Wood. Presently, he is a member of the Folk/Celtic band Turpin’s Trail. 

 


Live music by King of the SwingersKing of Swingers

King of the Swingers has energized festivals, fairgrounds, street concerts, and parties with their upbeat, energized,  approach to Dixie music for more than twenty years. King of the Swingers hold the all-time record for most performances by a single group at the Stewart Park Festival, Perth with more than twenty performances over ten years. Come out and join, Mowgli, Baloo, and King Louie, to dance and sing with King of the Swingers! 


Live Music by Teilhard Frost Teilhard Frost  

Teilhard Frost is a multi-instrumentalist, specializing in traditional fiddle tunes, with a particular interest in the Appalachian Mountains. He has spent the last twelve years touring with critically acclaimed band Sheesham, Lotus and Son, and is currently featuring his latest solo album, As the Crow Flies. Jason Mercer will be joining Teilhard on banjo. 

 


Bry the Magic Guy Bry the Magic Guy

Bry the Magic Guy has been performing magic for over 15 years, for audiences for all ages. Bring your family out to Centennial Park on Sunday morning to watch Bry perform at the Open Farms Community Hub.

Kids' Thank a Farmer Creative Tent Harrowsmith Social and Athletic Club Logo

Description: Hosted by the Harrowsmith Social & Athletic Club, the kids creative tent will offer an opportunity to acknowledge and thank the very people Open Farms strives to celebrate - our farmers and producers.

Custom thank you cards will be available to colour, decorate, and include a special message to our farmers. Kids can either take the cards home, deliver them to their favourite farmer, or or leave them with Open Farms hosts to post online for all our local farmers to see!

Kids can also take part in the Open Farms Colouring Contest (more info coming soon).

Description: Stop by the South Frontenac Community Services booth to help us load a trailer with non-perishable food items for our Food Bank. While you are there, learn more about our gardens, the many programs and services we offer, and how you can be involved and help people in our community.

Tractor and Plow Display by Frontenac County Plowmen's Association Frontenac County Plowmen's Association Logo

Description: As a Chapter Member of the Ontario Plowmen's Association, the Frontenac County Plowmen's Association (FCPA) has a long tradition of promoting farming and plowing in rural Ontario.

At the Open Farms Community Hub, the Association will be displaying the farm equipment used to get the job done, including a tractor, a plow and other tools. Learn more about the skill, dedication and patience required to be a plowman at Open Farms.

Verona Lions Club Verona Lions Club

Description: The Verona Lions Club has been helping build community and serving the South Frontenac area for over 70 years. We are a service club with a large hall for community and social events, two ballfields and a mini park for the enjoyment of Frontenac County residents. We are celebrating Open Farms with a photo booth at Centennial Park. Have your picture taken with our huge garlic clove at the Lions tent on site.

Loving Spoonful Loving Spoonful

Description: Loving Spoonful connects people with good food across Kingston & Area. Description: Stop by the Kingston Frontenac Public Library booth for some farm-themed stories and songs, or to sign up for a library card on the spot! The library gives Kingston Frontenac residents access to information, inspiration, and entertainment, for free with your KFPL card. We’ll beef up your reading list, spill the beans on events and programs, and field any questions you have about the library!

Food Policy Council Food Policy Council

Description: The Food Policy Council for Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox-Addington is an independent, volunteer organization with a diverse group of members who live or work in KFL&A area. The Council’s mandate is to work towards the KFL&A Food Charter’s purpose of creating a secure and sustainable food system for our region. Come by our booth to learn more, and to share your thoughts on food policy and advocacy.

Description: Lavallee’s Cookery offers scrumptious, scratch made meals to satisfy your cravings on any given day of the week. Ready to simply Heat & Eat. With our seasonal menu offerings changing weekly you’ll always be sure to find something to  appease your appetite. We use the freshest, local, seasonal ingredients we can find.

Join Lavallee's Cookery at the Community Hub on Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 4pm. Baked goods will be available starting at 11am and prepared food will be available starting at 11:30am. They will be offering food featuring local ingredients such as Artisanal Pizza, BBQ Chicken Tacos and a variety of fresh baked goods.

Harrowsmith Brewing Company Beer Garden Harrowsmith Brewing Company Logo

Description: Renovated in the summer of 2017, the now Harrowsmith Brewing Company was once owned by a Canadian Soldier who fought in the war of 1812. He was then given the farm after his dedication to his country and for his service.   

Today, Harrowsmith Brewing Co. aspires to have the best beer, food and event venue in the community. Coming soon to the property is the Brewery Tasting Room, where visitors will be welcomed to have some of the best craft beer and food in the area using local and Ontario sourced ingredients wherever possible. They also host special events, weddings and private parties in their beautifully renovated barn venue.

Join Harrowsmith Brewing Co. at the Community Hub from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 11 and Sunday, September 12 where they will be serving up their signature Spikes Corner IPA and Level Lager.

Description: David has been making BBQ Sauce for his family & friends for over 20 years. Everyone kept saying he should bottle and sell it. So that’s what he did.” The sauces we make contain as many local ingredients as we can source. We even use real maple syrup from Ormsbee’s in Battersea, Ontario, in our maple sauces, which is also #InFrontenac.

Hinchinbrooke Hills Farm Hinchinbrooke Hills Farm

Description: Hinchinbrooke Hills Farm is a small-scale, family operated 40 acre farm located in Godfrey. Our goal is to supply our neighbours and partners with top quality, fresh products while striving to create a self regulating ecosystem on the farm. We have a little bit of everything, from Berkshire Pigs and Muscovy Ducks, to Turkeys, Quail, and of course Chickens. We also offer a variety of fresh produce, CSAs, meats, eggs, hatching eggs, and other farm goods. This year we launched a Rent-A-Summer-Chicken program that allowed  families the chance to enjoy fresh eggs and learn the basics of homesteading in their own backyard. We use circular farming methods, using our animals to compliment the natural environment and create a balance on the farm where everything has a purpose. We are honest, family oriented, dedicated homesteaders hoping to leave the land better than we found it and continuously educating ourselves and others along the way.

Description: Here at Thorpe Farms we set a goal to produce quality, clean and sustainable products that consumers can enjoy the amazing flavour and feel good about eating. Being environmentally conscious and respectful of nature we ethically raise predominantly lamb, chicken and turkeys. Other seasonal products include eggs, honey and vegetables. 

Cory Priest from Thorpe Farms will also be providing information about a new local abattoir in the Frontenac region. The Rise Farm The Rise Farm logo
