Plan ahead! Businesses in Frontenac are committed to operating responsibly through the COVID-19 pandemic, which might mean limited in-store access, reduced hours, or curb-side pick-up only. Check in with each retailer in advance of your visit to avoid disappointment.

Don’t own a Paddle? Rent one!

They don’t call us the land of a thousand lakes for nothing. Check out these six paddle route suggestions from Zack Fiddis, owner of Frontenac Outfitters and explore our waterways in the most refreshing and accessible way - by renting a canoe or kayak at one of these local spots:

  • Bon Echo Provincial Park and Sharbot Lake Provincial Park
Two world-class parks within a couple hours of the city, all offering unique paddling experiences. Be dwarfed by the history and power of the rock face at Bon Echo and explore two very different water bodies at Sharbot Lake. Rentals from Bon Echo Provincial Park are provided by Bon Echo Outfitters and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Get the Google map.

  • South Frontenac Rental Centre
SFRC in Harrowsmith rents canoes, kayaks, stand up paddle boards and boat/motor/trailer combos. Call or email to make a reservation. Kayaks, Canoes and SUPs are available for purchase as well. Rentals are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • Sharbot Lake Country Inn & Crossing Pub
Explore Sharbot Lake from the comfort of the private dock at the Inn. Two kayaks, a canoe and a pedal boat available to rent. A waiver and a security deposit are required. Email or call to book.
  • Snug Harbour Resort
This three-season cottage resort on deep, clear Desert Lake has a large, varied fleet of canoes and kayaks. Discover Desert Lake, Mitchell Creek, and the lakes bordering Frontenac Park. Get the Google map.

  • Wolfe Island Boat Club
From kids summer camps and clinics, to weekend family race nights and dragon boat rentals... paddling with the Wolfe Island Boat Club gets you on Lake Ontario, and that's a paddle to remember.
  • Frontenac Outfitters
Frontenac Outfitters -- located at the entrance to Frontenac Provincial Park -- is known as an international destination for high quality and high performance rentals and sales. Hit the water at Frontenac Provincial Park for a great spot to try out a SUP. Get the Google map.

You may need to make a few trips up here to really experience it all, but we’re more than happy to wait for you - on the water! We have an interactive map to help get your started. Tell us a good paddling story, and tag it with #InFrontenac.
