It's #inFrontenac that Nuala Gartlan is finally realizing her childhood dream.

Nuala grew up in Ireland and every day on her walk to and from school she would stop and peer through the windows of an abandoned shop. She imagined turning it into a small, cozy tea shop to serve the villagers.

Fast forward a few decades, a happy life in Toronto, and summer vacations spent at her sister's property near Plevna. When the then-owners of the local bakery decided it was time to retire, they called Nuala. As fate would have it, the timing lined up and she opened the doors of the Shamrock Bakery in Plevna this summer.

Aside from being an absolute whiz in the kitchen, Nuala is a wonderful story teller and she loves her customers. Her incredible cooking and baking, Irish accent, happy-go-lucky attitude, and quirky decorating sensibility have turned the Shamrock into a comfortable place that you'll want to visit again and again.

Catch her during the North Frontenac Back Roads Studio Tour, and the following weekend. After that, she'll close the doors until next summer.

Thanks to Nuala and the Shamrock for becoming a Frontenac Ambassador. Her love for the area, the fresh air, and the local 'characters' is infectious. If you're not careful, after a chat with Nuala you might end up buying your own place #inFrontenac!
