Frontenac County located in Eastern Ontario, approximately:
- 3 hours east of Toronto
- 1.5 hours west of Ottawa
- 3 hours west of Montreal
- 0.5 hours west of the 1,000 Islands US border crossing
- 1 hour west of Johnstown US border crossing
By Road
The southern border of Frontenac County is about 20 minutes north of Highway 401, and is accessed by Road 38 (Exit 611), Sydenham Road (Exit 613), Perth Road (Exit 617) and Battersea Road (Exit 619).
Farther north, Highway 7 intersects Frontenac County. Destinations south of Highway 7, are best accessed via Road 38, Mountain Grove Road and Arden Road. Destinations north of Highway 7 are best accessed via Road 509, Henderson Road and Highway 41 (north to Cloyne and Road 506).
By Ferry
Wolfe Island, Howe Island and Simcoe Island are all south of the City of Kingston and only accessible by ferry. The Wolfe Islander III takes about 20 minutes to transport passengers between downtown Kingston and Wolfe Island and is free of charge. Wolfe Island is also seasonally accessible from the United States via Horne's Ferry. The Simcoe Island Ferry is accessible only from Wolfe Island. Howe Island is accessible by the Frontenac-Howe Islander and the Township Ferry (known locally as "the Foot Ferry" because it lands at the foot of the island). Follow the above links for more information about user fees, ferry capacity and schedule.
By Rail
There is a VIA Rail station in Kingston, located at 1800 John Counter Blvd. Kingston is a regular stop on VIA's service through the Quebec City - Windsor Corridor. It's an easy drive from the train station north to mainland Frontenac County or south through downtown Kingston to the Wolfe Island Ferry.
By Plane
Kingston's Norman Rogers Airport is located at 1114 Len Birchall Way. It has two runways and a fully-accessible terminal.
